Chester, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/07/2014 -- Recurring headaches, teeth grinding at night, and jaw aches are the common symptoms of malocclusion, also known as bad bite. Previously, Dr. Gaudio would try to explain to his patients what happens when teeth are misaligned, but it was often difficult to maintain their interest, or for them to fully understand the condition without the help of visuals or models. Now, Dr. Gaudio uses BiteFX to explain easily and clearly what happens with teeth that do not align.

More problematic malocclusion may require wires or plates to stabilize the jawbone, and in severe cases, surgery might be needed, which results in reshaping the jawbone.
“The causes of malocclusion are varied,” states Dr. Gaudio. Scientists have proven that most malocclusion is hereditary. A cleft lip and palate is one of the birth defects that can cause malocclusion. There are other causes, of course, such as children sucking their thumb, using a pacifier or using a baby bottle long after it should have been given up.
