Dr. Gaudio Introduces His Patients to BiteFX

Chester, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/07/2014 -- Recurring headaches, teeth grinding at night, and jaw aches are the common symptoms of malocclusion, also known as bad bite. Previously, Dr. Gaudio would try to explain to his patients what happens when teeth are misaligned, but it was often difficult to maintain their interest, or for them to fully understand the condition without the help of visuals or models. Now, Dr. Gaudio uses BiteFX to explain easily and clearly what happens with teeth that do not align.

BiteFX was developed to make it easier for patients to understand malocclusion and for doctors to present information about it to the patient.

Dr. Joseph Gaudio of Gaudio Cosmetic Dentistry, Chester, NJ, has undergone advanced training in malocclusion therapy and the BiteFX system, and is firmly committed to helping patients who suffer from a bad bite. He incorporates new technology in combating the effects of a bad bite by making use of a digital program based on animations, making it easy to understand the cause of the problem. “The BiteFX system clearly shows the type of treatment required to eliminate any inflammation and the excruciating pain that goes along with malocclusion,” states Dr. Gaudio.

Dr. Gaudio comments, “The BiteFX system makes it much easier for me to be able to decide what treatment will work best for my patient; the reasons for malocclusion differ from one person to another and BiteFX simplifies the process of reaching a diagnosis.” Some of the treatments used for misaligned teeth are braces, dental splints, and/or retainers to correct the position of the teeth. The removal of a tooth or teeth may be required where there is overcrowding. “Sometimes we can simply reshape the teeth to bring them into proper occlusion,” explains Dr. Gaudio. More problematic malocclusion may require wires or plates to stabilize the jawbone, and in severe cases, surgery might be needed, which results in reshaping the jawbone.

“The causes of malocclusion are varied,” states Dr. Gaudio. Scientists have proven that most malocclusion is hereditary. A cleft lip and palate is one of the birth defects that can cause malocclusion. There are other causes, of course, such as children sucking their thumb, using a pacifier or using a baby bottle long after it should have been given up.
