Trina Seligman Set to Climb the Leaning Tower in Yosemite to Raise Money for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA)

Recently, two men made climbing history at Yosemite. Now a woman is doing something historic at this world class climbing venue.

Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/26/2015 -- Trina Seligman is a Naturopathic Doctor, who has suffered from Ulcerative Colitis from the age of 15. She is about to spend three days and two nights climbing the Leaning Tower in Yosemite to raise awareness and money for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). The money raised will allow the foundation to continue their research and find a cure.

1.4 million Americans suffer from Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis, which is an autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack the bowels. The disease can cause bleeding, diarrhea, and severe abdominal pain.

Facing Ulcerative Colitis herself, Trina Seligman knows how challenging the condition can be, and how it can reduce a person's lifestyle. She suffered from prolonged bloody diarrhea at age of 15, spending several months per year in hospital till the age of 18. After it had become so bad, it was recommended by doctors that she should have her large intestine removed. She was then able to gain some weight and became healthier.

Trina's life improved following the surgery. She learned how to climb, taking new challenges that made her feel successful in life despite the disease. Trina continues to be treated by a gastroenterologist, an infectious disease doctor, and a pulmonologist, who monitor her condition. However;she is determined to lead a normal lifestyle and help with the campaign to find a cure.

Her new goal for this year is to climb the Leaning Tower a 110 degree steep overhanging climb which will take 3 days. She hopes to attract the attention of people around the world who would like to donate to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. With climbing the Leaning Tower, Trina hopes to raise $40 000, which will help the extremely important research for all Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis patients. The sponsorship is 100% tax deductible.
