Doncaster, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/17/2015 -- The number of new private divorce cases has risen significantly for the third month in a row, according to Cafcass, the legal and public advisory service. The latest figures for this July indicate a total of 3,554 new private cases referred to Cafcass, a 23% increase on July 2014. Over the past three months there has been a marked change in trend which had previously seen reductions in year on year changes October 2013.
Factors influencing the number of private divorce cases are multiple and difficult to determine exactly – often dependent on individual circumstances. Over the long term population changes, social pressures and cultural factors could play important roles. Certainly the reductions in divorce cases in the past two years have reflected the withdrawal of legal aid funding for divorce. Many people simply could not afford to go to court. It is not clear yet why the trend in case numbers has reversed this summer. Whatever the circumstances, it is vitally important that divorce lawyers and those working within the legal field are of a high and consistent quality.
