ClearVision Eye Centers Bring Cutting Edge Technology to Las Vegas Area

New Retinal Camera Revolutionizes Detection of Vision Related Conditions

Las Vegas, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/08/2016 -- ClearVision Eye Centers, a chain of eye care clinics renowned for their patient-centered, high-tech approach to eye care, has once again introduced another cutting-edge innovation in eyecare to its practice, the Retinal Camera.

"A retinal camera, often referred to as a fundus camera, is one of the best pieces of diagnostic technology your doctor has to evaluate the health of the inside of you eye," comments Dr. Michelle Wong, of ClearVision Eye Centers, "It allows us to take a picture of the inside of your eye with the click of a button, just like a regular camera. Retinal cameras also offer a wider field of view than with most other instruments. Having a digital picture is also one of the best way to detect subtle changes to the inside of the eyes over time."

According to Dr. Wong, Retinal Cameras vary from model to model, but are generally able to capture up to a 200-degree picture of the inside of a patient's eyes, helping to detect tumors, diabetic eye disease, changes due to glaucoma, vascular changes due to high blood pressure, and more.

Dr. Wong further comments, "As far as patient reception of the technology goes, patients who choose to get the retinal pictures absolutely love it. Upon request, we'll even email you a copy. We've had patients make their photos their new desktop background! And the photos allow us to keep infinitely better track of changes, and is such a fantastic education tool to be able to show our patients what their eyes look like on the inside and explain our findings."

This technology has even helped Dr. Wong and her colleagues at ClearVision Eye Centers to save lives. Dr. Wong relates, "Recently, one of the doctors examined a young, healthy patient who was in a hurry and did not want to have his eyes dilated, against the recommendations of the doctor. Thankfully the patient elected to have retinal photos taken, which revealed several tumors in the peripheral retina that would otherwise not be able to be seen. The patient was found to have metastatic cancer. Luckily, they were treated just in time so that their life was saved. The patient had no presenting symptoms!"
