Phoenix, AZ -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/20/2016 -- WANT TO BECOME A PUBLISHED AUTHOR? In a July 22 episode of "Turn the Page," Independent editor and publishing expert Janet Spencer King will share guidance on writing compelling non-fiction and fiction, choosing between traditional and self-publishing, and how to make your book a worthy investment!

Janet shares, "The changed nature of publishing has increased access to becoming a published author. Many writers are now choosing to self-publish. But to become a high-quality author with a fine book is more than signing up for one of the many Internet services. Writers need an experienced independent editor who will help them craft professional writing, and teach them what it takes to be an author. Self-publishing requires the collaboration of many, including copy editors, designers and sophisticated printers. An independent self-publishing director is the go-to person to coordinate this multi-layered effort."

As an independent book editor, Janet Spencer King works with fiction and nonfiction writers. She has edited many fiction genres, including contemporary and historical fiction, fantasy, and mysteries. Janet has worked with nonfiction manuscripts such as memoirs, health and fitness, nutrition, self-help and personal growth, business, psychology, adventure, travel, and more. She started her career in the magazine world; from editorial assistant she eventually achieved the position of editor in chief of three national magazines and wrote hundreds of articles, published in major magazines. Moving into the book side of publishing, Janet authored or co-authored four books, published by major houses. She also owned and ran a literary agency, helping clients craft manuscripts, many of which she was able to sell to leading publishers. From all of this she learned with clarity what makes a good book and how to write and edit one.
