Kickstarter Campaign Launched to Help Energize South Los Angeles Rebirth

Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/08/2016 -- Local resident and businessman Fernando Jackson, has officially launched a Kickstarter campaign for garnering widespread support and financial backing to create a positive campaign towards a renaissance development of South Los Angeles.

South Los Angeles is now seeing complex new identities rooted as much in pride of place as it is in a sense of race. The area has become home to some civic institutions such as USC, Hollywood Park, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the returning LA Rams. One common thread among those doing work in South L.A. is a commitment to community organizing that is intentionally multi-racial in spirit and approach.

"Something is changing in South L.A. in a positive way about gentrification of once predominantly black areas. Said project creator Fernando Jackson. "This is a sign of the times similar to the renaissance in Harlem New York. To evoke a sense of pride in a place of struggle, I am creating a positive campaign towards a renaissance development of South L.A"

Jackson states that he is creating a positive campaign towards a renaissance development of South Los Angeles, starting with spreading the message on T-shirts (different styles to wear with pride and get the word out) and socially on Facebook (to supply positive images and schedules of activities in the community) as well as interacting with local businesses.

"It is a dynamic picture of South L.A.'s past, present, moving into the future that we have sought to capture—one in which allow residents shared goal of economically vibrant, socially inclusive, and environmentally healthy communities," says Jackson.

All 'Backers' of the Kickstarter campaign who pledge $100 or more support will receive limited first editions of the various t-shirt styles developed by the project. Proceeds raised from the Kickstarter campaign will be used for trademark registration, design, initial T-shirt inventory, and advertising.
