Elmwood Park Zoo Excited to Announce Connelly Foundation Is Sponsoring Its Exhibit

Norristown, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/15/2017 -- Elmwood Park Zoo, a popular zoo and unique wedding venue located near Philadelphia, is excited to announce that its "Birds of Paradise" exhibit will be sponsored through a $175,000 grant from the Connelly Foundation. "Birds of Paradise" is an interactive exhibit that features canary-winged parakeets, tropical sun conures, and many other beautiful birds. Guests enter a jungle-themed space where the birds fly freely, and they can also choose to hand-feed the birds by purchasing special food cups inside the exhibit.

This popular exhibit first opened in the spring of 2014. It remained closed for the majority of the 2016 season after a winter storm collapsed the building's wire mesh roof. A new building was erected, and "Birds of Paradise" was able to re-open its doors during the late fall of 2016. The exhibit is currently open daily, from 10:30 a.m to 4:00 p.m., when the weather permits.

Founded in the year 1955, the Connelly Foundation awards grants to Philadelphia area non-profit organizations "demonstrate outstanding performance in meeting community needs." Its stated mission, inspired by their Catholic heritage, is to create access for those in need as well as opportunity for those with vision. More information is available on the foundation's website - connellyfdn.org.

"Birds of Paradise" is not the only experience that can be found at Elmwood Park Zoo. This Norristown zoo is also home to one of the most beautiful outdoor wedding venues in Philadelphia, PA, and the surrounding areas.
